Hi Ladies,
I have a wedding planner question. I am paying my planner 13% of my wedding budget, which is a lot I know, especially for my smallish wedding, but I need a LOT of help. That being said, she is still getting a 10% commission from my hotel room blocks and didn't get us an especially good deal. I don't want to get angry with her, lest she not make an effort to negotiate a good price for us on other things, but I am really really not happy that she is getting a commission ON TOP of what we pay her.
Any thoughts on the situation? Would especially love thoughts from wedding planners themselves!
Thanks!
Mishumo
Hi Vianak,
I hate this kind of situation and I am so sorry that you are dealing with this. While I don't know if you CAN fire your wedding planner, I would if I were you. Any wedding planner worth there salt would NOT participate in that kind of practice. It's just not good business! Besides that...she's not the one "selling" the rooms...you and your fiance are! YOU should get the 10% discount. Here is a post on the subject of kickbacks that sheds more light on this practice...

Good luck to you and let me know how things work out!
1Hi,
I have been a wedding planner over 4 years and I have never heard of 13% fee plus commission from the hotel.. Speaking as a person paying for her services I would FIRE her. You and your party should receieve any perks that the hotels might be giving. I hope this experience does not make you look at our profession in the wrong way
